🌊 Making Waves at SNB! Our 8th Green Flag Journey 🌍 What a proud day at Scoil na mBuachaillí last Thursday as we welcomed our Green-Schools assessor for our 8th Green Flag renewal — and what a story our boys had to tell! From the very start, our fantastic Green-Schools Committee took the lead, confidently sharing how they explored marine issues, tackled plastic waste, and turned ideas into real action 💪 ♻️ Think reusable campaigns 📊 Waste audits and real data tracking 🌎 Linking their work to global change The passion for protecting our oceans was clear to see — and hear! 🌱 A very special highlight? Our school chickens! Not only are they helping us reduce food waste, but they also stole the show 🐔 (and yes… their eggs made the perfect thank-you gift!) A huge thank you to Siobhán Hughes, Green-Schools Officer, who was so impressed by the boys’ knowledge, leadership, and enthusiasm — especially when it came to caring for our feathered friends 🥚💚 We would also like to extend a very sincere thank you to our Green-Schools Coordinator, Niamh Mac Auley, whose incredible dedication, organisation and passion drive this work every day. Leading a large and committed Green-Schools Committee, she has guided and supported the boys to take real ownership of their learning and actions 👏 This was more than just a visit — it was a celebration of student voice, teamwork, and real action for our planet. 👏 We are proud to be continuing our Green-Schools journey and making waves along the way! #GreenSchools #MarineEnvironment #GlobalCitizenship #Sustainability #StudentVoice #MakingWaves Green-Schools Clonakilty Tidy Towns Clonakilty Notice Board
3rd Class packed a seriously impressive amount into one day! 🎤 First up: budding podcasters in action as they recorded their Marine Rap — creativity, confidence and a few future radio stars in the making! Stay tuned… it’s a must-listen. 🌳 Then it was off to the playground as a well deserved treat for taking part in the SNB Gaeilge Challenge! 🌱 To top it all off, the class got hands-on with composting — as part of their ongoing Composting in Schools journey, they enjoyed a check-in session with Donal from Waste Down, showing great interest in all things biodiversity while continuing to learn how to care for the environment and reduce waste in a meaningful way. A brilliant mix of fun, fresh air, and fantastic learning.
🤸‍♀️✨ 6th Class Gymnastics in Action! ✨🤸‍♂️ Our 6th Class pupils have been making fantastic use of our school facilities, creating a brilliant space for active learning and fun! 🏫🤩 We are so lucky to have excellent resources in our school — a hall that is perfectly suited for performances, complete with stage, sound, and lighting 🎭🎤, as well as a second hall dedicated to activities like gymnastics and PE 🤸‍♀️⚽. We are also delighted that all classes from Junior Infants right up to Rang 8 have the opportunity to take part in a term of gymnastics lessons each year 🙌 From balancing and rolling to jumping and creating their own sequences, the children have shown great skill, focus, and determination 💪👏 The variety of equipment allows them to safely explore, challenge themselves, and build confidence. It has been wonderful to see them support one another, work as a team 🤝, and bring creativity to their routines ✨ A big thank you to Aoife MacAuley for her fabulous coaching and for inspiring the children throughout these sessions 🙌🌟 They are developing strength, flexibility, and teamwork in such an engaging environment — and this is only the beginning… imagine how amazing they’ll be by the end of their sessions! 🚀🤩 Well done to all of 6th Class! 🎉🙌 #ActiveSchools #Gymnastics #6thClass #SchoolFacilities #LearningThroughMovement
🌞✨ What a fantastic and fun-filled Friday for our Senior Infants! 📚⚽ They had a wonderfully busy day from start to finish, filled with lots of rich learning opportunities along the way 🎉. Their morning began with a lovely visit to the library Cork County Council Library & Arts Service 📖, where the children developed their love of reading, explored a variety of books, and strengthened their listening 👂 and comprehension skills through stories. After that, it was time to get active with an exciting soccer session led by Klaaskickz ⚽🙌. The children had great fun practicing their skills, playing games, and working together as a team 🤝 — building coordination, confidence 💪, communication 🗣️, and teamwork. All that activity built up an appetite, so they enjoyed a relaxing lunch outside in the sunshine ☀️🍎. This was a great opportunity to develop social skills, independence, and conversation 💬 with their friends in a calm and enjoyable setting. The boys were especially proud to be wearing their jerseys as part of Stand 4 Féile 💙👏, helping to build a sense of community, identity, and pride in being part of something special. To top it all off, they finished the day with a quick visit to the playground 🛝😊, where they explored, played, and developed their physical skills, imagination 🎨, and friendships through active play. A perfect mix of fun, learning, and fresh air 🌿 — and a wonderful way to end a fantastic week. Happy Friday everyone! 🎉😊
Our incredible school community has so far raised an incredible €900 & counting for Stand4Féile - Litwithgrit following our Jersey Day on Friday! Sciath na Scol Chorcaí
