🙏✨ A Big Week for 2nd Class! ✨🙏 Our 2nd Class boys celebrated their First Confession on Monday, showing great maturity on this important milestone. We are very proud of them! ⭐ On Tuesday, they enjoyed a lovely trip to the playground right next door to the school. We are incredibly fortunate to have such an exceptional amenity right on our doorstep, giving our pupils the chance to enjoy fresh air, play and celebration just moments from the classroom. ☀️🛝 A perfect way to mark a special occasion with plenty of fun and smiles.
❄️📚⚙️ A Frosty Finish to the Week! ⚙️📚❄️ After a fantastic week celebrating Engineering Week and World Book Day, the boys in Scoil na mBuachaillí arrived on the morning of March 6th to a beautiful surprise — a crisp spring frost sparkling across the yard after days of grey skies and rain. 🌞❄️ Before morning assembly, the boys quickly spotted an opportunity! Armed with rulers, blocks and plenty of imagination, they got to work gathering frost from benches and tables and carefully shaping it into a mini frosty creation. 🧊👷‍♂️ The finished figure even bore an uncanny resemblance to a familiar character from Owl Babies — a perfect link to our World Book Day celebrations earlier in the week! 🦉📖 It was a lovely reminder that some of the best learning moments happen spontaneously, when curiosity, teamwork and a little creativity take over — even on a frosty March morning. #SchoolLife #CreativeKids #EngineersWeek #WorldBookDay #Clonakilty
🌟 Our Junior Infants – Small but Mighty! 🌟 What a week it has been for our incredible Junior Infants in Scoil na mBuachaillí! These boys may be the youngest in the school, but their energy, enthusiasm and willingness to get stuck into everything is something we all admire. 👏 In just one week they managed to: ⚙️ Take on Engineering Week activities like true problem-solvers 📚 Celebrate World Book Day and enjoy lots of stories and reading 🤝 Continue their wonderful partnership with the 6th Class boys – the friendships and bonds between the classes are something our staff constantly praise 🌳 Enjoy a trip to Bennett’s Field 🛝 Burn off some energy at the Clonakilty Playground ⚽ And finish the week by throwing themselves into their very first Klasskids soccer training session with great gusto! We are so proud of the way these boys approach every opportunity with smiles, curiosity and enthusiasm. They truly bring great joy and life to our school each day. A very special thank you to Ms. Mary Horgan, Samantha Aerts and our wonderful support staff, who work tirelessly to create an environment where these amazing boys can truly shine. ⭐ Junior Infants – you set the bar very high this week! 💙 #SchoolLife #JuniorInfants #Clonakilty #LearningThroughPlay
⚙️🚒🔬 Engineering Week in Scoil na mBuachaillí! 🔬🚒⚙️ What a fantastic week we had celebrating Engineering Week, a nationwide initiative that encourages children across Ireland to explore the exciting world of engineering, problem-solving and innovation 🧠⚙️✨ Our Senior Infants enjoyed an exciting visit to Clonakilty Cork County Fire Service 🚒🔥 where they got a close-up look at the fire engines and equipment used by firefighters every day. The boys learned how engineering, teamwork and clever design help keep our community safe 🧑‍🚒🧯🚨 It was a very special experience and the boys loved every minute! A big thank you to the firefighters for welcoming us and making the visit so memorable 🙌👏 Meanwhile, 4th Class visited Cork County Council Library & Arts Service 📚🏫 to take part in a brilliant Anyone 4 Science workshop called “Forces – Test the Strength of Jelly Sweets.” The boys built their own force meters ⚖️ and tested just how strong jelly sweets can be! 🍬💪 Through fun experiments they learned about pulling forces, fair testing and reliable results 🧪🔍 Many thanks to Denis at Clonakilty Library for organising this wonderful event 🙏📚 Back in school, our 5th and 6th Class pupils put their thinking caps on 🧠🎓 for an exciting Engineering Quiz where teams answered questions based on engineering and worked together to solve them 🤝⚙️🏆 A big thank you to Ms. Regina Fitzmaurice for organising the quiz and to Noreen Collins for coordinating the prizes 🎁👏 It was a week full of curiosity, creativity and hands-on learning 🧠⚙️🧪 and the boys thoroughly enjoyed discovering how engineering plays such an important role in everyday life 🌍🔧 👏⭐ Well done to all our pupils and a huge thank you to everyone who helped make Engineering Week such a success in Scoil na mBuachaillí! ⭐👏 #EngineersWeek ⚙️ #STEM 🔬 #HandsOnLearning 🧪 #Clonakilty 📍 #PrimarySchoolLife 🎒
We had a lovely time celebrating World Book Day in Scoil na mBuachaillí this week! 📚✨ The focus of the day was all about sharing our love of reading. The boys spent time talking about their favourite books and recommending stories to their classmates 📖💬 One of the highlights was buddy reading, where older classes paired up with younger classes to read together. It was wonderful to see the boys enjoying stories side by side and helping each other with the reading 👦📚👦 We also had some great book character costumes on the day, which added to the fun and excitement around books and storytelling 🎭📚 Well done to all the boys for making it such an enjoyable celebration of reading! 📖🌟👏
🎭 Feis Maitiú Success for Rang 3! 🎭 Congratulations to our fantastic 3rd Class, who achieved 3rd place at Feis Maitiu Corcaigh in the Theresa Harris Memorial Perpetual Cup for Action Verse competition. 🥉It was a real honour to share 3rd place with our neighbours St. Joseph's Girls NS Clonakilty. The pupils performed First Day at School by Roger McGough and Gran, Can You Rap Too? by Jack Ousby. The adjudicator was full of praise for the boys’ performance and highlighted the importance of opportunities like this for pupils to perform on a big stage and build confidence. 👏 Sincere thanks to Ms Marie Forristal and Ms Karen O’Regan, who worked so hard preparing the boys for the competition. Congratulations to everyone involved! 🎭 Feis Maitiú is a Music and Drama Festival held each year at The Father Mathew Hall in the centre of Cork City, running annually from the end of January to early April. The future of drama in Clonakilty is bright! ⭐ Clonakilty Notice Board
Mini Sevens Hurling Skills Competition – Páirc Uí Chaoimh 🏑 Scoil na mBuachaillí was proudly represented at the Mini Sevens Hurling Skills Competition in Páirc Uí Chaoimh today by Adam Kingston. This prestigious event provided a wonderful opportunity to compete at such a renowned venue and to showcase individual skills at a very high standard. Adam represented the school with great enthusiasm, commitment and sportsmanship. We are very proud of his participation and thank all those who continue to support and encourage our pupils in taking up these valuable opportunities to represent SNB. Well done, Adam! 👏💙💛 Clonakilty GAA Club
🌍✨ World Wildlife Day – March 3rd ✨🌿 As it is World Wildlife Day, we took today as an opportunity to notice and appreciate the wonderful wildlife right here in Scoil na mBuachaillí 🏫🌱 We don’t have to travel far to find nature — it is all around us 🍃🐞. Spring is beginning to show itself across our school grounds, with bright yellow daffodils 🌼 and cheerful dandelions 🌼 bringing colour to our gardens. These early flowers are especially important for pollinators such as bees 🐝, providing one of their first food sources of the year. Our hedgerows 🌿 and old stone walls 🪨 are rich habitats too, offering shelter for insects 🐜 and birds 🐦. Our composting areas, leaf mould cages and wormery are full of activity ♻️, where worms 🪱 and microorganisms work hard to recycle nutrients back into the soil. A visiting starling was even spotted searching for food! 🐦‍⬛ New shoots 🌱 are pushing up in our garden beds, and our raised planters are coming back into life after winter ❄️➡️🌷. We are also fortunate to care for our school hens 🐔🥕, helping pupils learn responsibility and respect for living things ❤️. World Wildlife Day reminds us that biodiversity is not only found in faraway places — it begins in our own school grounds 🌍💚.
