Active School

At Scoil na mBuachaillí Clonakilty, we are proud to promote a positive, active and healthy lifestyle for all pupils through our involvement in the Active School Flag (ASF) initiative.

The Active School Flag is a national initiative, awarded by the Department of Education, which recognises schools that strive to create a physically educated and physically active school community. The programme encourages schools to place physical activity, wellbeing and participation at the heart of school life.

As part of our Active School journey, we aim to:

  • Provide a broad and balanced Physical Education (PE) programme for all pupils
  • Encourage every child to participate in a wide variety of physical activities and sports
  • Promote active play, movement and wellbeing throughout the school day
  • Build strong links with parents, local clubs and the wider community
  • Foster teamwork, inclusion, confidence and enjoyment through sport and activity

Throughout the year, pupils take part in a wide range of initiatives including PE lessons, Active Breaks, playground activities, sports coaching, competitions, walking initiatives and our annual Active School Week.

The Active School Flag process is a whole-school effort involving pupils, staff, parents and the wider community working together to support active and healthy lifestyles for all. We are extremely proud of the enthusiasm, teamwork and school spirit shown by our boys as we continue our Active School journey. 💪🏃‍♂️⚽🎾
