Young Scientist – A First for Scoil na mBuachaillí! 🧪✨ Tomorrow, Scoil na mBuachaillí makes history 🎉 as we travel to the RDS, Dublin to present our first-ever project at the Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition Primary Science Fair 🇮🇪. The boys will showcase “Life Is Better with Chickens” 🐔 — a project that began with the question “Do chickens add to the wellbeing of our school?” and evolved following overwhelmingly positive research findings 📊. The pupils showed outstanding commitment 💪, carrying out parent, pupil, and student surveys, analysing data, and creating presentations, videos, artwork 🎨, and detailed models of the chicken coop 🏠🐓 for their exhibition display. A huge achievement for our school 🏆 and a proud moment for our whole community ❤️. Best of luck to the boys 🍀, and sincere thanks to Ms. Kathryn O’Shea 👏 for her dedication and leadership throughout the project! Clonakilty Notice Board I Love Clonakilty
⚽️Scoil na mBuachaillí was delighted to take part in the very first Primary Cork Cups Soccer Competition, proudly representing our school at primary level. It provided a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to demonstrate their skills, cooperation, and love of sport against schools from across the county. 🥅In Round 1, we secured a 6–2 win over Scoil Eoin, Ballincollig. The game was lively and competitive, with both teams displaying strong play, and our boys did the school proud through their commitment and fair play. Today, we competed in Round 2 against Holy Well NS in Carrigaline. Holy Well proved the stronger side on the day in a match played with great respect and sportsmanship. Our players showed resilience, positivity, and teamwork throughout the contest. Congratulations once again to the team on their efforts during the competition — you have represented Scoil na mBuachaillí with pride both on and off the pitch.
Clonakilty GAA, LGFA and Camogie Clubs are participating in this year's Ireland Lights Up Challenge for the 4th consecutive year. This walking initiative runs every Wednesday night for 6 weeks beginning this Wednesday, the 7th. We want to invite all members of the local and school communities to join us so we can light up the dark Winter nights. It gives the community the chance to walk safely under floodlights around the walking track at the GAA grounds. Participation is free and suitable for all ages. Tea and coffee are provided in the club complex afterwards. Registration is at 7:15 pm in reception, with the walk beginning at 7:30 pm. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
Well done Olan 🥰🙏
✨🎄 Christmas at Scoil na mBuachaillí 🎄✨ Our school was full of Christmas cheer as we celebrated a wonderful festive season together. Highlights included fantastic performances from our youngest pupils on stage, a beautiful Carol Service in the hall, the much-loved Hosanna Rock, and carol singing in the community. Visits from Santa and Mrs Claus, our Pass on the Kindness initiative, and even a fun Secret Santa for staff added plenty of fun and festive spirit! 🎅🎁 Festive lights inside and outside the school helped create a truly magical atmosphere throughout. Thank you to our pupils, staff, Board of Management, Parents’ Association and families for your continued support and community spirit. 🎄 Wishing everyone a happy, peaceful Christmas and a wonderful New Year! 🎄✨
🌍✨ 3rd Class Air Quality Results Are In! ✨🌍 Our 3rd Class pupils recently took part in the GLOBE Ireland Air Quality Campaign, a nationwide initiative monitoring nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) levels around schools — and we’re delighted to share the results! After collecting real data using air quality monitoring tubes and returning them to the lab for analysis, we’re pleased to report that Clonakilty falls within the Average air quality range, with an average NO₂ reading of 7.52. 📊👏 This hands-on science project allowed pupils to explore air pollution, understand its impact on health, and take part in real-world environmental monitoring. It was an exciting and meaningful learning experience for all involved. Well done to our fantastic 3rd Class pupils for their curiosity, teamwork and commitment to environmental awareness. 🌱🔬 🔗 Find out more about the campaign here: https://www.globe.gov/web/ireland/home/overview-of-air-quality-campaign Green-Schools GLOBE Ireland Clonakilty Tidy Towns I Love Clonakilty

🎄✨ A Very Special Visit from Santa & Mrs Claus! 🎅🤶 We had a truly magical day at our school yesterday when Santa Claus and Mrs Claus came to visit! The excitement and smiles on the children’s faces made it a day to remember as they enjoyed lots of festive cheer and Christmas magic. A huge thank you to Ursula Deasy from the Parents’ Association for organising the visit, and to Michelle O’Doovan for helping out on the day.
