🎄✨ A Magical Week at SNB – 8th to 12th December! ✨🎄
Scoil na mBuachaillí has enjoyed a wonderfully busy and memorable week, filled with rehearsals, performances, achievements and plenty of festive spirit. Below is a summary of some of the highlights from 8th–12th December.
Hosanna Rock Rehearsals in the Church
Throughout the week, pupils from 2nd to 6th Class have been rehearsing in the church for their upcoming Christmas performance Hosanna Rock.
Their dedication, focus and teamwork have been very impressive, and their singing has created a wonderful atmosphere as we prepare for this special event.
All-Ireland Drama Success – Ms Laura Connolly
We are extremely proud of our teacher, Ms Laura Connolly, who was awarded Best Actress at the All-Ireland One Act Drama Festival.
Warm congratulations are also extended to the Kilmeen Drama Group, who won the overall festival.
This is an outstanding achievement for Ms Connolly and the group, and we are delighted to celebrate this success as a school community.
First Class Christmas Performance
First Class treated their families and friends to a heart-warming Christmas performance in their beautifully decorated classroom.
The boys performed a selection of Christmas songs with great enthusiasm and confidence, and also shared some of their favourite Christmas jokes, which brought plenty of laughter and smiles.
We are very proud of the boys for their effort and teamwork.
Sincere thanks to Ms Thérèse Crowley and Mrs Josie Files for the time, preparation and support that went into this lovely event.
Leading Lights Award – Special Recognition for School Warden Programme
This week, our long-running School Warden Programme received Special Recognition at the Road Safety Authority’s Leading Lights Awards in Croke Park.
Our 5th and 6th Class School Wardens enjoyed a memorable day in Croke Park, marking 50 years of road safety leadership at Scoil na mBuachaillí.
We would like to pay special tribute to Mr Chris Hinchy, whose dedication and leadership over many decades have been central to the success and longevity of the programme.
Our thanks also to Ms Carol O'Boyle, Ms Eileen Breen O'Riordan, Ms Niamh Mac Auley and Ms Regina Fitzmaurice for accompanying and supporting the boys on the day.
We are very proud of all our pupil wardens, past and present, who have shown such responsibility and commitment to safety in our community.
A Magical Morning with Rang 7
Rang 7 presented a wonderful performance of ’Twas the Night Before Christmas for their families and friends.
The boys impressed everyone with their expressive storytelling, clear narration and confident stage presence, creating a truly festive and enjoyable occasion.
We extend our sincere thanks to:
-
Ms Rebecca Hourihane (Class Teacher)
-
Ms Kathryn O’Shea (Support Teacher)
-
Mr Paul Carmody (Music)
-
SNAs Eilish McSweeney, Claire Kavanagh, Marguerite O’Sullivan and Samantha Aerts
for their work on the script, music, costumes, face painting, props and all the organisation behind the scenes.
We also wish to acknowledge the boys from 2nd and 4th Class and the SNB Sound & Lighting Crew for their excellent support.
Thank you to all the families who attended and helped to make the morning so special.
Festive Wear in School
In keeping with the season, pupils are now welcome to wear Christmas jumpers, hats and festive accessories alongside their school uniform for the remainder of the term.
There has been great excitement around the school – and even the Principal has been spotted wearing a Christmas jumper – adding to the sense of fun and celebration.
Cinema Trip for Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class
To round off the week, Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class enjoyed a very exciting trip to the Clonakilty Park Cinema on Friday, 12th December.
The outing was a wonderful experience for our youngest pupils, and their excellent behaviour, excitement and good humour were a credit to themselves, their families and the school.
Thank You
We are very grateful to all staff, pupils and families for their continued support, hard work and positivity.
This week has highlighted once again the strong sense of community, creativity and care that makes Scoil na mBuachaillí such a special place.
We look forward to the remaining days of the term as we continue to prepare for Christmas.
