πŸ“šβœ¨ Our Every Child a Reader Programme has now come to a very successful conclusion in Scoil na mBuachaillí Clonakilty.

Over the past number of weeks, pupils from 3rd, 4th and 5th Class enjoyed a series of engaging workshops with our Champion of Reading, Elizabeth Rose Murray (E.R. Murray). The sessions encouraged thoughtful discussion around books, reading habits and favourite genres, with non-fiction, sport and comedy proving especially popular among the boys.

As part of the programme, the school received a fantastic selection of books from Children’s Books Ireland, which have been a wonderful addition to our reading spaces and library resources. We are also very fortunate to have such a supportive school community and recently received a generous donation towards books for our school library from a grandparent who wished to support reading within the school. πŸ“–πŸ’™

The programme concluded with a relaxing reading session in the hall, where pupils had the opportunity to enjoy books together in a calm and welcoming environment.

Behind the scenes, exciting developments are also taking place as work continues on a brand new library area within the school. A huge thank you to Finbarr πŸ”¨ who is creating a beautiful bespoke library space where pupils will be able to relax, read and explore new books, while Sam has also been lending a helping hand with the upholstery for the new seating area.

We have also introduced a Library Management System through Aladdin πŸ’»πŸ“š to help organise our growing collection, and we look forward to appointing pupil librarians who will help promote reading throughout the school community.

A sincere thank you to Ms Carol O’Boyle for coordinating the programme and to Children’s Books Ireland for supporting reading, creativity and a love of books in Scoil na mBuachaillí.
