A Frosty Surprise to End the Week!

6th Mar 2026

After a busy and exciting week celebrating Engineering Week and World Book Day, our pupils arrived to school on the morning of March 6th to a rather unexpected treat — a beautiful spring frost.

After days of relentless grey skies and rain, the clear blue morning left a sparkling layer of frost across the school yard and playground equipment. It didn’t take long for the boys to notice the opportunity! Before morning assembly, a group of eager engineers, designers and builders quickly got to work, gathering frost from benches and tables and carefully shaping it into their very own creation.

Using rulers, small tools and even blades of grass for finishing touches, the boys showed impressive teamwork, creativity and problem-solving as they crafted a frosty figure that soon began to take shape. The finished creation caused plenty of smiles around the yard, especially as it bore an uncanny resemblance to a familiar character from Owl Babies — very fitting after our World Book Day celebrations earlier in the week!

It was a lovely reminder that sometimes the best learning happens spontaneously, with a little imagination, teamwork and a touch of winter magic — even on a bright spring morning. ❄️📚⚙️
